Decision Maker: Housing Committee

Made at meeting: 18/06/2024 - Housing Committee

Decision published: 13/09/2024

Effective from: 18/06/2024

Decision:

The Committee received a report outlining the Quarter 4 2023/24 performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Four of the KPIs had not been met, these were outlined in the report, appendix A to the report provided explanation as to why.

The performance indicators, monitoring indicators and the statutory tenancy satisfaction measures for 2024/25 were set out in Appendix D of the report.

In response to member questions, officers explained that;

  • in relation to H04 – the number of households living in temporary accommodation – there was no specific figure for the number of people per household. At the time three households consisted of a single person while most were family sized with at least one child. Officers noted that there was an increase in the number of larger households, specific figures were to be circulated to members afterwards.

  • the number of affordable units for the site at Hillbury Road, as set out in the report, was 67 affordable units, which would equal 45% of the units on the site.

  • reference H8 on the risk register found in Appendix B, Increase in damp and mould/disrepair claims against the Council, was not included on the corporate risk register.

  • officers were considering alternative options for additional temporary accommodation, through the Local Authority Housing Fund, to negate the need for hostel and Bed and Breakfast accommodation. A number of hotels, both in and outside of the district, were currently being used. Officers also highlighted the need to redevelop some existing temporary accommodation site and that plans of how do this were being discussed.

  • Accommodation purchased under refugee schemes would remain within the Council’s housing stock and could be used in the long term if there were no longer the requirement to use for housing refugees.
